The Royal Nassau Balloon. As it appeared when Ascending from The Royal Vauxhall Gardens. With the Parachute attached in which Mr. Cocking made his Fatal Descent, July 24th 1837. Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
“Parachutes and man-traps” don’t always work. Mr. Cocking’s descent with his “ludicrous machine” was sure to be fatal.
